Dear Mr. Cunningham,
I just returned from a fishing trip to Montana, something that I have been
doing for over 40 years. I can remember when the trash truck for the town was an
old 54 pickup, still have the pictures. This last trip will be my last to Bozeman. It
has changed from a classic western town to a sprawling overbuilt city with
overpriced hotels, $300-$600 a night, plus tents and run down trailers next to
these hotels. Does not give you the feeling of a safe environment. The massive
building of apartments and low housing is only going to attrack crime and and
other big city problems that are going to keep people, especially tourists, from
going to your town. I live just outside the city of Philadelphia and used to enjoy
maybe going to dinner in town but it has gotten so bad with crime and street
people that I will no longer go there. This is what I see is the future of Bozeman. If
I were one of the hotels on the street where all the migrants have gathered I
would be absolutely fuming that the town has allowed this to happen. It appears
that they have even taken over one or two of the complexes. One thing to be
living out of a tent or camper but the trash that they accumulate is uncalled for. I
see you were just elected, hopefully you will be able to solve these problems.
