Dear City Commissioners - I perused the UDC Update CE Plan Phase 2 v6 and have some suggestions. In the interest oftime, I’ll keep it brief. 1. Replace “special interest groups” with another term. This term has baggage and implies lobbying for some sort of special treatment. Being an advocate for people with disabilities andfor the environment - which serves everyone - should not be labeled in a that way. Perhaps you can use the term “Advocacy groups” instead. 2. The term “town hall” seems to be missing entirely from this plan despite many calls for thisformat of engagement. Please see the attached examples - which include steps like facilitation. I believe the quadrant meeting idea should be fleshed out to be an independently (but locally;i.e. MSU) facilitated town hall style meeting where there is true, real-time conversational dialogue with ground rules. Additionally, I understand the quandary about whether to pick up where the Commission leftoff versus starting fresh. All things considered, I took the Pause to mean stepping back, re- assessing, and then moving forward in a way that is transparent and fair. To me, this means afresh start with the public at the table on day 1.
