Blake, Nice talking to you today. MDT is ok with the roadway approach locations. Below is the MDT comments on the last design. All turning movements are approved. Geometric median design at Quicksilver is approved, the design channelizes right turning traffic sufficiently to minimize the risk of a left turn. Design speed is independent of posted speed or anticipated posted speed limit reductions a 60- MPH design speed is correct for East Valley Center. L1 tapers in excess of 60:1 are not desirable. Request reduction of taper rate to match design speed. Deceleration for a 60-mph design speed is 530 feet in addition to storage length. If this cannot be met due to other constraints, please provide a justification for any deviations or variances. MDT must agree to any proposed deviations, variances, or exceptions. Concerning the Access for the lift station: Based on discussions from the meeting MDT is in agreement with the addition of a gated, utility only, access point to the west of the existing signal at Valley Spur. The stipulations on the aforementioned access point is that is the farthest away from the signal as possible, minimal in size, gated, no connection to other internal roadways. Please provide plans for this access point as well as an additional approach permit. Let me know if this is what you need. Thanks Jean Jean A. Riley, P.E.
