This is a comment concerning the issue of trapping in the Sourdough and in Montana. I am a double PhD
scientist and professor. I study humans. I study violence. I study animals. I am a fifth generation Montanan.
Trapping is always wrong. It is heinous. It represents the worst of human beings. We have known for a long time
that fur-bearing animals have advanced nervous systems, self-awareness, and the ability to feel pain and
psychological states like terror and anxiety.
It is my fervent, educated, and well-considered belief that trapping should cease in Montana. All of it. It should
be illegal, as an instance of both genocide and ecocide, on clear moral and scientific grounds.
