It seems like some important voices have been left out of the process, and I think it’s crucial to bring themin for a well-rounded outcome. Here are a few things I think must be considered in the process: - Collaborate with the Historic Preservation Advisory Board to update Bozeman’s Historic Preservation Program at the same time. Since this is part of Chapter 38 of the Bozeman Code,it just makes sense to update it together to preserve Bozeman's unique history. - Work with the Inter Neighborhood Council on new building codes that help add invisible infill in our neighborhoods without drastically changing their character. It's a way to addhousing without disrupting the community feel we all love. - Adopt an Affordable Housing Overlay Zone (AHOZ) to help keep gentrification in check and prevent long-term residents from being pushed out. This kind of planning will make surewe don’t lose the diversity that makes our neighborhoods great. - Consider recommendations from the Better Bozeman Coalition’s report to ensure the new development code is neighborhood-friendly and takes into account what people who actuallylive here want. I hope you’ll take these suggestions to heart as you move forward. Including more perspectives in this process will help Bozeman grow in a way that benefits everyone. -- -Scott Jackson 908.601.8002
