Dear Bozeman Commissioners,
As we dive into the Unified Development Code update, it's crucial that we put environmentalprotection front and center. Bozeman's future depends on our ability to preserve its natural
beauty and resources.
One of the most effective ways to do this is to keep existing trees standing. Trees are vital to
our climate resilience, and they provide countless benefits to our community.
The UDC already has environmental protection codes in place, but it seems they're not being
enforced consistently. We need to make sure that developers are following these regulationsand preserving trees, vegetation, and topsoil. If the code isn't clear enough, let's revise it.
Remember, the UDC will impact Bozeman for generations to come. It's our responsibility toensure that it prioritizes the protection of our natural resources.
And let's not forget the economic value of trees. They're appreciating assets, unlike roads, pipes, and wires. By saving existing trees, we're making smart investments in our community's
future.
As leaders in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, Bozeman has a unique opportunity to set a
high standard for environmental stewardship. Let's make sure the UDC reflects thatcommitment.
Respectfully,
Paula Mozen
