Fitzgerald - Sourdough Trapping VoteCustomer Submission #CS-24-839 Open Created on September 15, 2024 by Melissa Fitzgerald Description Sourdough Trapping Vote Comment There is no such thing as a humane trap or a painless trap. Trapping oen breaks animalsʼ legs and animals oen sever their legs and feet trying to escape. They dislocate their shoulders, and suer lacerations, torn muscles, and cuts to their mouths and gums. Many animals are killed by another animal before the trapper finds them. Animals drown in submerged or partially submerged traps and snares. Trapping also causes significant terror resulting in shock. Some animals are le so long they die of starvation or exposure. No wonder trapping has been banned in several states. Trappers may claim they feed their families by trapping and that it provides a viable source of income, but income from trapping has been non-existent for decades because there is little to no demand for pelts. Trapping is expensive and requires investment in vehicles, gasoline, time and equipment. When surveyed, the majority of trappers say they trap for “sport.” Trapping is nothing but a cruel and needless "recreation" of the wealthy.
