Dear Bozeman City Commissioners: Thank you for putting trapping on city-owned lands in Sourdough Canyon on the commission's agenda. I am writing in support of the proposal to ban trapping on city-owned land in SourdoughCanyon. Trapping is indiscriminate and extremely cruel to wildlife, and dangerous to companion animals and children and others recreating in the area. Sourdough Canyon is anextremely popular area for recreation, and trapping has no place in such a highly-used area. Setbacks for trails are rarely enforced, and much-needed data on trapping and incidental catchand killing of wildlife is virtually nonexistent, and/or reported by trappers themselves and therefore highly subjective and unreliable. The City of Bozeman can be a leader and set an important example by banning this outdatedand dangerous practice on city-owned lands in Sourdough Canyon. I urge you to do so. Thank you, Bonnie Rice1753 Moffit Gulch Road Bozeman
