Dear Bozeman Commission, I’m sending this email to ask that you do not ban trapping in the Sourdough drainage.
As best as I can tell, this is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. There are already setbacks in place in this area,
and it isn’t known for a high volume of trapping to begin with. I am not a trapper, but I fully recognize the value of
trappers on the landscape as a means for wildlife management. It is the stated goal of those bringing this proposal
to you to end all trapping in the state of Montana. This would result in unintended consequences that would throw
our wildlife management into a state of anarchy, and examples of this can be found in other states. Please
understand that if you succumb to the desire to end trapping in Sourdough, you will be complicit in providing a
precedent for this to be considered in more and more jurisdictions throughout our state. I urge you to do the right
thing and do not vote to solve a problem that does not exist.
If you would like to submit additional documents (.pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .gif, .jpg, .png, .rtf, .txt) along with
your comment, you may alternately address comments@bozeman.net directly to ensure receipt of all
information.
Thank you,
City Of Bozeman
