Dear Bozeman Commission,
I know this is a cookie cuter email, but I agree and am in full support oftrapping this area. I’m sending this email to ask that you do not ban trapping in the Sourdoughdrainage. As best as I can tell, this is a solution to a problem that doesn’texist. There are already setbacks in place in this area, and it isn’t known forhigh volume of trapping to begin with. One only has to look at California torealize taking away any form of wild game management can haveunintended consequences in the long run. Montana K9 Safety, with some input from the Montana Trapper’sAssociation, has been providing an excellent public outreach regardingeducational clinics on how to avoid and/or release pets from traps. Statistically speaking, you have a better chance of being in a fatal caraccident in this state than you do having your pet caught in a trap. Eventhen, there is an above 90% chance your dog will sustain zero injuries. It’sworth noting nearly all fatal instances, and all instances where seriousinjuries were sustained but weren’t fatal, were due to the fact an animal wasat large and not within visible/verbal distance of the owner. I appreciate your consideration in this matter. Respectfully,
Brian MillerOwner
