Dear Mayor and Commissioners:
I write to you to support the
campaign to ban all trapping and
snaring of animals up in Sourdough
Canyon. I often take my family up
there to hike with our dogs and
children year-round. Rather than
relaxing and enjoying the scenery, I
am constantly worried that my dog
will accidentally get caught in a trap
while he is running off-leash.
Trapping has no place in modern
society, and especially not on a high-
use recreation trail like Sourdough.
Plenty of wildlife use this migration
corridor in the Gallatin Range,
including endangered species. They
are at great risk too. These are
public lands that we should be able
to enjoy without fear of
consequences. I'd be grateful if
you'd consider a city proclamation
that would benefit the majority of
folks and ban trapping in this
beautiful drainage. Thank you.
All best,
Amy Dozier
