My family owns a section in Dawson County, but I care about Bozeman and the whole state.
I question the morality of and need for any recreational trapping and snaring, but common
sense dictates that these hidden devices that maim and/or kill are not compatible with hiking, running, jogging, camping, dog walking, and exploring.
I appreciate that there are setbacks, but I’m skeptical that poachers and even licensed trappers
heed those regulations. Enforcement staff are thin on the landscape and thus muchenforcement is complaint-driven, which means a person or pet has already suffered injury or
worse.
Although I wish it was different, trappers have plenty of other places in Montana to do theirrecreational killing.
Please add “watersheds” to the proposed legislation to protect the people, pets, and other
inhabitants of this city-owned land.
Thank you.
