Dear Mayor and Commissioners:
I write to you to give you my support for the campaign to ban all trapping and snaring of
animals up in Sourdough Canyon.
Although I dont live in that area, I would be a little hesitant to have my dog running off leash in
an area that might possibly have traps or even snares where he could get injured or worse.
And honestly, if I still had young children that would definitely be a big concern.
The idea that in this time - in this century - anyone would have an urge to trap wildlife &
snares? WHY? Too many species of wildlife use this migration corridor in the Gallatin Range -
including Endangered Species. This planet is already losing species every single day - Heard of
the Sixth Extinction? The risk is too great - for humans and animals. Public lands should be
enjoyed by people and be a place for wildlife to live safely.
Sounds as if a city proclamation would benefit most folks and banning trapping AND snares in
this beautiful drainage would do a lot to preserve the habitat and migration abilities of other
species.
Thank you
Maggie Frazier
