Dear Members of the Bozeman City Planning Department,
We are property owners in the Gran Cielo subdivision and we are expressing our opposition tothe construction of the four-story apartment complex within our neighborhood.
Our first concern is the negative effect a 158 unit, four-story apartment complex will have on
our property values. The residents in this neighborhood paid a considerable cost to buy into acertain standard that is shared within this community. An extensive apartment complex was
never part of the sales pitch when we were purchasing our homes. In fact, during the latestHomeowners Association meeting, the apartments were described by the builder's
representative as "stacked condos", similar to existing condos in our community. Instead ofthe "stacked condos", they are proposing four separate, four-story apartment buildings. I can
only assume the apartments were misrepresented because the builder agrees the apartmentswill lower our property values and the quality of our neighborhood's aesthetic.
Other concerns are increased traffic congestion and lack of parking. We have children, aged
12, 8, and 6 and they love riding their bikes around the neighborhood with their friends. Wehave always felt it was safe, because of the limited traffic and the lack of street parking. With
280 new bedrooms and only 215 off street parking spots, the streets will be more congestedwith traffic and vehicles parked on the street will cause more blind spots, making our kids less
safe.
Thank you for considering our position on this new development. I believe Bozeman iscapable of finding a solution to everyone's housing needs in a way that is not detrimental to
the homeowners in our neighborhood and is, instead, beneficial to all.
Sincerely,Josh and Colleen Killian
