Dear Commission,
A few years ago I offered to rent my rental house to a family that needed affordable housing. My big concern was
that a family in need should have references and credit that could make sure that I would not be held "holding the
bag”. None of the non-profits had any such program. So I rented at full prince to those that could prove that they
had a good credit rating.
Recent research has proven that the number one reason the unhoused and those needing affordable housing can’t
qualify is their rental track record or credit rating. This needs to be addressed!
If the City or non-profits could do a form of co-signing, then landlords would be must more willing to rent at an
affordable price.
