buildings to a water main line to install the fire suppression systems.

$79,999 for the cost of a dedicated water line to the fire suppression system installed to serve seven
condominiums within the property. An Improvement Agreement with the Downtown Urban Renewal
District for reimbursement upon completion is required.

into this property. She stated she knows that storm water road work is going to be completed in the
future and that it could help save money for both the City and the property owner if the two projects

RECOMMENDATION:Special Presentation, no action needed at this time
STRATEGIC PLAN:1.2 Community Engagement: Broaden and deepen engagement of the
community in city government, innovating methods for inviting input from
the community and stakeholders.
BACKGROUND:Bozeman Creek activation and improvements have been a priority of the
Downtown Improvement Plan and continue to be of interest to the
community and City Commissioners in order to better integrate our drainage
systems, celebrate our natural heritage and increase safety potential.
#SeeBozemanCreek is a group of committed community members who are
meeting regularly and trying to make progression on this project.
The Downtown URD and Partnership have supported efforts on small
beautification and mitigation projects over the years but there has been
some recent developments and interest. Jim Madden is attending to present
on the recent headway. Currently the DURD has committed $20,000 in
planning funds to support these efforts. This is in addition to the
encumbered $10,000 that has been committed by the DURD (in FY24) as a
match to the $50,000 Coal Endowment Fund Grant awarded to this project
for critical engineering work. This will be reimbursed to the City of Bozeman,
who is overseeing the grant and work done, upon submission of the
engineering report.

• The Alley Beautification Project recently completed the Hyalite Riverway Streetbond installation.
The Alley was closed Aug 14-16 and we took many measures to keep people informed and

• Downtown Parking Updates: General updates below, see agenda item for FYI/Discussion

o Baker Tilly is compiling an updated cash flow analysis for the Downtown URD, this will be
presented to the board once completed.
o The newly hired COB Parking Manager is Nick Focken, formerly parking enforcement officer
and interim parking manager.
o We have confirmed the 2024 Parking Working Group Members and scheduled our first
meeting on Sept. 13 at 2pm at City Hall. Thanks John and Amy for representing the DURD
board.
• Current DURD/CoB Project Updates:
o Alley Project – Work continues through summer, visit

o I-Ho Peace Park – Initial design plans have been reviewed, in process of finalizing designs
with I-Ho’s family and Rotary members.
o Tree Replacement project (cont.) – 3 trees completed, 6-7 more slated through summer.
City Forestry has assisted immensely with grates, guards and immediate safety concerns.
o Downtown Streetscape Standard – Slated to be complete by late summer.
o 5th & Main & Lighting Project – In progress, Mendenhall CLOSED for sewer project.
