Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. 2024 Montana Crime Prevention Conference banner Dear Subscriber, MBCC invites you to participate in Trauma-Informed Practices in the Criminal Justice System at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort following the 2024 Montana Crime Prevention Conference on Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4. This is a two-day training scheduled tentatively from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with an hour break at noon each day. Attendance is free and lunch will be provided. Through eight modules, you'll learn how to define trauma, identify ways it impacts criminal justice system participants, and develop tools for ensuring your agency is trauma sensitive and safety supporting. The purpose of this training is to provide criminal justice professionals with: an understanding of trauma and it's impact on offenders, victims, and the community, the effects of vicarious trauma, and how to implement changes within your agency to be trauma-informed. Attendees who complete this training will be eligible to receive POST/CEU credit. TrainerTawny Rogers, Victim Services Liaison, MBCC Tawny Rogers is the Victim Services Liaison for the Montana Board of Crime Control. She currently works across the state to identify where there are barriers to accessing services for victims and survivors and where service providers encounter gaps. Prior to beginning with MBCC, Tawny worked for the Board of Pardons and Parole as the Victim/Witness Coordinator assisting victims, survivors, and families through parole hearings and the aftermath. She spent many years devoted to serving youth experiencing homelessness, countless of whom were victims of human trafficking and childhood abuse and neglect. While working with youth and young adults, she pursued and received her Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Investigative Criminology. Tawny’s focus since beginning her career has been the development and implementation of Trauma-Informed Practices when working with victims, survivors, and justice-involved families. She is also a dog mom to a 120lb Bernese/Border Collie and a one year old Pyrenees Mix.
