Office of the Mayor
City Hall
121 N Rouse Ave
Bozeman, MT 59715
Dear Mayor Morrison,
We, the undersigned residents of Bozeman, are writing to urgently request increased funding for our Animal Control Department and the reinforcement of
existing leash laws to ensure public safety and the well-being of our community.
As our city continues to grow, we have observed a significant increase in incidents involving loose or aggressive dogs in public spaces. These situations
pose serious threats to the safety of our residents, particularly children, the elderly, and other vulnerable individuals, as well as to the pets and wildlife in
our community. Furthermore, inadequately enforced leash laws and insufficient resources for animal control officers hinder their ability to effectively
address these issues.
We believe that by increasing funding for the Animal Control Department, we can:
1. **Enhance Staffing and Training**: Additional funding will allow for the hiring of more animal control officers and provide them with comprehensive
training to handle various situations more effectively.
2. **Increase Patrols and Response Times**: More resources will enable frequent patrols in public areas, ensuring quicker responses to incidents involving
loose or aggressive animals.
3. **Improve Community Education**: Adequate funding will support educational programs that inform residents about the importance of leash laws and
responsible pet ownership.
4. **Strengthen Enforcement of Leash Laws**: Increased resources will ensure stricter enforcement of leash laws, reducing the number of incidents
involving unleashed dogs.
By taking these steps, we can create a safer environment for all Bozeman residents and foster a community where people and pets coexist harmoniously.
We urge you to consider our petition seriously and allocate the necessary resources to address this pressing issue.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your positive response and action to improve the safety and quality of life in Bozeman.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizens of Bozeman
