My name is Chase Anders and I reside at 1543 Ryun Sun Way in Bozeman. I watched the entire urban camping
meeting this evening. I really appreciate the presentation and the data provided as well as the suggestions from the
city manager. However it completely fell on deaf ears for Commissioner Bode, perhaps it was because she failed to
show up for the meeting. She had no interest in actually finding a solution to reduce or eliminate urban camping,
rather find more areas for them to urban camp in like public parking lots, and actually suggested the tax payers
provide power and energy for said campers. She also mentioned how she went on a ride with officers to the urban
campers and empathizes with them. However she only saw one side of the argument instead of talking with the
residents around these urban camping locations.
All of the commissioners are indeed the same person and is why they only nominate and elect like minded people
who think exactly like themselves to the commission so they can proceed with their own agendas, instead of actually
listening to the MAJORITY of their constituents and members of the public.
I have compassion for the individuals who are on the streets and we need real solutions to help them. However, I do
not believe that is the majority at this stage. At this point in time, many of the urban campers are people who are
taking advantage of the commission’s leniency on urban camping. When could not afford to live in Bozeman, I
found ways. I had many roommates in order to afford to live here and worked many jobs.
I emplore you to find solutions to fill the many available high density units for these urban campers that the
commission keeps approving for the developers.
Also, please take note how the number of people asking you to eliminate urban campers conducted themselves
during the meeting, and how the yellow shirt tenant organization conducted themselves. That was disorderly
conduct on the part of them and I hope they were charged accordingly.
I’d highly suggest taking the city managers solution on reducing urban camping as they are the ones with boots on
the ground actually dealing with this.
Best regards,
Chase Anders
