After you voted to gut the City's Community Housing budget by 2026, it is now more important than ever that you do not go even further down the wrong path by punishing our most vulnerable neighbors for not being able to afford housing. Considering the astronomical increases in housing costs locally, it is no surprise that low-income residents have been forced to live on the streets. What these individuals need is access to shelter, transitional housing, and safe, sanctioned spaces to park until they can get back into housing. The current urban camping ordinance is working, and passing a new ordinance to make it even harder to be homeless in Bozeman will only move us farther away from solving the root problem. I know you recently passed an anti-housing biennial budget and voted against affordable housing, but please don't continue to simply listen to the loudest voices in the room If you would like to submit additional documents (.pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .gif, .jpg, .png, .rtf, .txt) along with your comment, you may alternately address comments@bozeman.net directly to ensure receipt of all information.
