To our city leadership,
I would like to mention problems with people driving recklessly on my street, 439
North Grand. This street has become the bypass to an ill crafted parking and trafficdesign on nearby North Willson Street. People drive up and down Grand as fast asthey can go in a one block run. Easily exceeding 25 mph.
The traffic people/police placed an information trailer on the street for a few weeks
but that had little effect. I believe we need to take it to another level before someoneor someone's child or pet gets smacked for the gain of a few seconds on the street.Actual speed traps or speed bumps or even conspicuous speed limit signs are in
order now.
We have all heard the story that there aren't enough police to adequately do their
jobs. And that we are expected to have a ballot measure in November which meansit will be a year before we see more officers on our streets. Sorry, that is not going
to cut it. Imagine how bad it will be in another year+. They will be playing catch up
indefinitely and things won't improve for a very long time, if ever. Not only have
they lost control of speeding but also red-light violations, noise levels and overalltraffic safety compliance.
The COB needs to shift some priorities around so that safety and civility are as
important as other services which they seem to be, comedibly, keeping up with,
think trash, dogs and trees. Excuses will abound but this is important to mostresidents. Everyone complains about it.
WE CANNOT WAIT FOR A YEAR OR MORE TO VOTE THE MONEY,
COLLECT THE MONEY HIRE AND TRAIN THE OFFICERS AND WE
DON'T NEED A STUDY. I look forward to hearing about a new plan and that things will change for the better
sooner than later.
Best regards
