COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2930
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, NAMING THE APPROXIMATE 40.0.ACRE TRACT LYING
ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF SOURDOUGH RIDGE, SOUTH OF THE
SUNSET HILLS CEMETERY AND EAST OF SOUTH CHURCH A VENUE
"BURKE PARK".
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman is in the process of acquiring approximately 40
acres of land lying along the west side of Sourdough Ridge, south of Sunset Hills Cemetery
and east of South Church Avenue; and
WHEREAS, said property has been in the ownership of the Burke family for nearly
a half century, during which time the Burke family has gratuitously allowed the public to use
this property; and
WHEREAS, said property will add approximately 40 acres of natural parkland to the
City, which property has been enjoyed as such by the citizens of Bozeman; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to name said property "Burke Park" upon its sale
to the City in recognition of the Burke family.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, that the approximate 40.care tract acquired from the Burke family be
named "Burke Park" in recognition of the Burke family, who has made this area available to
the citizens of Bozeman, thus preserving a pristine area and open space which has been, and
continues to be, an attraction within the corporate limits of the City of Bozeman.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana,
at a regular session thereof held on the 2nd day of August 1993.
