Opportunities for Artists - Calls for Entry From the Montana Arts Council
Mid-Summer 2024
Arts opportunities are heating up as
July rolls into August!
A roundup of grant, employment, and participation opportunities in the Big Sky.
National Endowment for the Arts Logo
The National Endowment for the Arts' Our Town grants will soon be accepting
applications. A creative placemaking grants program, Our Town's project-based
funding supports activities that integrate arts, culture, and design into local efforts that
strengthen communities over the long term. Our Town projects engage a wide range
of local stakeholders in efforts to advance local economic, physical, and/or social
outcomes in communities. Competitive projects are responsive to unique local
conditions, develop meaningful and substantive engagement in communities, center
equity, advance artful lives, and lay the groundwork for long-term systems change.
Applicants may request an amount between $25,000-$150,000, with a required
minimum nonfederal cost share/match equal to the grant amount. The application
process opens August 1, 2024, and closes on August 15.

Arts Across the Prairie Logo
Our counterparts in North Dakota present Arts Across the Prairie: Placemaking in
Rural North Dakota. It's a first-of-its-kind, statewide, public art program from North
Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA). This program will create eight large-scale public
works – one for each geographic region in the state – that reflect the unique history,
landscape, and cultural heritage of each region. All eight works will be placed in rural
locations.
Arts Across the Prairie was developed to celebrate the cultural heritage of rural areas,
foster creative relationships across counties and regions, bolster NDCA’s role as a
rural development partner, and spur economic development through tourism.
Furthermore, as a community-driven initiative, it aims to promote civic pride, affirm
distinctiveness of place, and strengthen cultural identity.
Artist selection is ongoing in a region-by-region process. Click below for full details on
the program.
