My comments here are in response toyour Commission Resolution No. 5608. While I agree that the city's special assessment for trees, etc. should extend to annexed properties, I strongly oppose the 3% increase in theassessment rate for the tree maintenance district as proposed. Many of us who have paid taxes for decades are being taxed right out of our homes. After the state property taxexorbitant increases and the recent increase in city tree tax, we taxpayers need a break! In the 22 years I've owned my home in Bozeman's Figgins Subdivision, the city assessment hasincreased nearly tenfold. The services the city provides via the special assessment had NOT increased nearly tenfold and indeed, the services have decreased. For example, last winter, mystreet was plowed twice. The previous winter, 2022-23, a huge snow year, my street was well- plowed once; a second time, the plow went down my street once but only cleared the middleof the street and left a 3-foot berm on either side. My elderly neighbor got stuck! and our street is flat. Please vote against the 3% increase. Please be sure that the services we pay for indeedare provided. Jean Arthur-Sellegren
