Valore - Urban campingFrom:Rick Valore To:Bozeman Public Comment Subject:[EXTERNAL]Urban camping Date:Thursday, July 25, 2024 7:52:53 AM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. My position on this topic is it needs to stop happening all together. People camping on the streets should not be allowed. Who is more loving: the person who gives a man a fish or theman who teaches them to fish? Allowing people to camp on the street is not compassionate, it is enabling illegal behavior , which has a negative impact on the entire community. I'm sureyou are aware of the Oregon court decision outlawing urban camping. It really bothers me to pay increasingly more property tax to the City of Bozeman that does not provide the essentialservices, like enforcing the law, while at the same time spending our money on other politically correct boondoggles. Stop it. You are heading in the wrong direction. By the way, Ihave yet to see any tree mitigation by the City even though you continue to ask for more money through a "Special assessment". This is just another substantial increase in propertytaxes. Man up and stop calling it something different. Also, stop planning to spend millions more than your projected revenues. Live within your budget and stop spending other people'smoney recklessly. The COB portion of my property tax bill has increased over 40% since 2019, while at the same time the amount of growth in new taxpayers has also increased. Youryearly anticipated revenue grows each year and yet you continue to outspend the growth. Oh, and while we are at it, new City Council members should be voted on by the public and notchosen by the existing members. It wreaks of nepotism.
