Elephants. Castles. UFOs. Just another summer in Montana's arts
The Montana Arts Council's Summer 2024 issue of State of the Arts is here! We've found that new places andspaces for art are springing up all over Montana, and the arts being made and enjoyed there are moreextraordinary than ever.
What do an elegant mansion in White Sulphur Springs, Sting, and a runaway circus elephant have in
common? More than you might think.
A flagship art museum recently opened its doors in Missoula, housing hundreds—or thousands—of years
of Montana art.
Since 2020 we've become all too familiar with taking the real world online. But the internet's ability to
shrink distances and forge connections makes it a new frontier in Indigenous art.
One venerable Montana institution heads to dozens of venues each summer—like castles, parks, and
badlands—to share art four centuries in the making.
Viking ships, UFOs, robots, and giant insects all inhabit what might be the most unusual arts venue in
the state.
