HomeMy WebLinkAboutProject Narrative_Towneplace Suites_Special Use PermitProject Narrative – Towneplace Suites Hotel Special Use Permit Purpose: • The purpose of this Special Use Application is to request and permit approval off on-premises alcohol sales at the Towneplace Suites Hotel. The Hotel is located at 2679 Honor Lane, Bozeman, MT 59718 and the site plan was approved under City of Bozeman Application Number 22378. Alcohol sales would be for beer and wine only and would be sold at a bar in the dining area and in the market area adjacent to the registration desk. The applicant has already procured a Montana State Beer and Wine Sales License (non-gaming) through the Montana Department of Revenue. Function: • Alcohol sales within the Towneplace Suites hotel footprint would be allowed at both the bar and the market area. Both locations are highlighted on the first-floor plan included with this application. The bar would also include small plates type meals and is connected to a food preparation and storage area as shown on the first floor plan. During business hours, the bar area would be monitored and served at all times by a dedicated bar and food service employee. Patrons would be allowed to site at the bar or in the dining area while consuming the alcohol. Sales within the market area would be monitored by a registration desk employee. Consumption of any alcohol purchased at the site would be required at the site. Application Responses: • The building and site is adequate to support the sales of alcohol. There are no topographic, site plan, or building design constraints that would preclude the sales of alcohol on site. Alcohol sales within a hotel is a common practice and are not expected to have any adverse effects on other guests or adjacent properties. • The site is not located adjacent to or within jurisdictional alcohol sale range of any schools or religious facilities. The site is located in a commercial business district and alcohol sales would not be expected to adversely impact operations or safety of any adjacent properties. In addition, the properties adjacent to this site operate during the daytime hours and the primary business hours of this hotel would occur during the night time hours. • The applicant understands that approval conditions may be necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the public.
