Dearest Commission,
If you read nothing else below this line, then please count this email as a vote to DENY the Guthrie for the sake of
sustainable and considerate population growth, (which is possible!) in the face of population growth, (which is
undeniable.)
Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana. I now live in the midtown neighborhood as a young professional, struggling
like the rest of my peers to afford housing and stay in this place I have called home for 27 years. While I am a drop
in the bucket, and possibly one of the easiest members of society (save the individuals less fortunate than myself) for
development to ignore and steamroll, I am of the belief that while it is inevitable that Bozeman continues to grow to
a metropolitan boomtown, it is of our responsibility (both you, the commission, me, the drop in the bucket, and our
developers) to consider a possibility of change that will not be a quick fix, but something we can look back on in 20,
50, and 100 years, and be proud of the choices we have made.
There are many people who will publicly comment that are much more eloquent and educated on the matter than I
am, which is why I rely on them to be my advocate and spokesperson. My vote is to Deny the Guthrie, and I hope
that my advocates can evoke that sentiment in a way that will be more meaningful and productive than I am able to.
Change is inevitable. Misery is a choice. I hope we can make the right decision for everyone, and not those who will
solely benefit.
Thank you for your consideration,
Spencer Hert
