Greetings Commission,
First, I thank you for reclaiming decision authority on the Guthrie project. You have indeed
made your first courageous decision in this matter!
As your second courageous decision, you need to also find the humility to admit that theAffordable Housing Incentives and the resulting Guthrie project were ill conceived during a
period where the City's managerial staff were operating in a highly non-transparent and non-trustworthy manner, showing outright contempt for both the input of Bozeman residents and
our elected Commission.
As a result, the City set very wrong expectations for developers such as HomeBase Partners, who already has a questionable track record of housing gentrification and historical and
natural destruction in the name of profit maximization. The Guthrie's parking giveaway isn'teven paired with a demand to build residences for middle-income families that could send
their kids to the local school. Clearly the community and economic planners at the City havebeen making very questionable decisions without any holistic conception of what makes a
healthy, vibrant, and sustainable neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Mark CampanelliLinkedIn
