To the city Commissioners, As a resident of downtown Bozeman for well over 20 years I have seen how the city has grown over that period of time. I do my best to understand the growing pains that the city is going through and yet there are decisions being made that effect all of us in the downtown area that a difficult to understand. The construction of multi-story housing units with limited parking is a direct insult to the residents who live in theseareas. The quality of life and even more important is the safety of the residents in those areas. The city keeps telling us we need more housing and yet when I walk around my downtown neighborhood I see large numbers of houses that sit empty for months onend. From where I sit there's a lack of available housing not housing in general. (We are a tourist town, a destination wedding town and the list goes on, when do we address these issues)? The Guthrie at all levels just adds to the problem and will erode the quality of life forresidents in that area. Many of us feel that your interest lies with future residents and not the ones who already live here. Slowing down the growth would be a smart thing so it can be properly managed.
