Dear Bozeman City Commissioners:
I'm writing today to urge you to say NO to the Guthrie development in downtown Bozeman.
Our city is pursuing an extremely short-sighted agenda: we are heedlessly encouraging density(For the benefit of out-of-state developers? To line the pockets of venture-cap investors?)
while relaxing the standards that individual homeowners like myself have willingly adhered tofor decades.
Are city residents clamoring for increased building heights, parking waivers, and no setbacks?
I can answer that question myself: we're not, so why is the commission granting thesegiveaways to developers?
Are city residents begging for more featureless apartment buildings, unaffordable housing,
less open space, narrowed wildlife corridors, and congested roadways? Then why doesthe commission keep approving projects that generate these outcomes?
Please deny the Guthrie because it doesn't meet code for the Neighborhood Conservation
Overlay District (NCOD), and rescind the Affordable Housing Ordinance (AHO) because itdoesn't produce affordable housing.
Preserve Bozeman's historic downtown core, please!
Sincerely,
Eleanor Barker824 South Tracy Avenue
