Description
The Guthrie building is proposed to be 111 units with 28 parking spots identified on the plan. The BCNA claims there will be 37 parking
spots for a fee. In either case, this is nowhere near the number of spots needed for a building of 111 units. Most of the outcry has been
about the a ordable housing included in this plan, but the lack of parking is an extremely serious issue. Despite the assurance residents
can use Streamline or walk to work, nearly every person in that complex will have a car - and where are they going to park? Every time I
see or hear "Guthrie" I think of an adult parking on the street a block or two away with a small child and groceries trying to safely get
everything and everyone back to their apartment - and it's even harder in the winter! People without children will not be pleased to slog
their way home with large loads, either. The extra cars parked along streets in the neighborhood will seriously impact local tenants'
quality of life and safety, and that of Whittier School, especially during drop o and pick up. "You" made a terrible mistake when the
million dollar plus condos on North Willson were approved without adequate parking, and we are now stuck with a bottleneck because
of vehicles parked on both sides of the street leaving only 1 lane for vehicle travel. Please do not make another major mistake by
approving a building that pretends most of its residents won't have vehicles that need parking spaces.
