Babcock zoning change request There is a zoning change request that was up for discussion on 06/18/2024; we attended the meeting and were there for over four hours in order to strongly oppose the request (the change from R-O to B2M at 1920 W Babcock). At 10:15 PM the mayor said this will be discussed at a date to be determined. I would like to know when this will be discussed again. We are strongly opposed to this change and do not believe this change will benefit anyone except the lot owner. I see that the adjacent property is owned by a party that shares the same business address as the owner of 1920 W. Babcock. This would lead one to believe that both properties will be further developed at the B2M zoning and in the description of that zoning......it is to benefit the immediate area. Babcock Street serves as a natural barrier between the commercial properties on the north side of the street (that then front Main Street) and to the south of Babcock Street where there are residential properties for three to four very long blocks. These residents are mostly college age kids and some young families with very young children. What commercial business would further benefit the nearby residents in over 100 multi-family units along S. 20th (between Babcock and Dickerson) that is not already in place? This change in zoning will only detract from what is a residential pocket of multi-family homes and the people who live in them. Thank you for your quick response so we can be there to have our voices heard. Mary Milkovich-Kamp 406-581-7956
