Dear Bozeman City Commission, I strongly urge the City Commission to fully fund a Right To Counsel program for tenants inthe city of Bozeman. There’s a massive imbalance of power when it comes to tenants and landlords, this includes legal power. It’s been shown that in cases of eviction landlords aresignificantly more likely to have lawyers than tenants. Evictions are often executed unfairly and without adequate notice nor reason, leaving people stranded to rely on social services orlive in the streets. Not only would guaranteed legal counsel to tenants facing eviction decrease the amount of evictions, but by extent it would also help decrease the amount of people whoare forced into homelessness. It’s time to start focusing on the roots of the problem, rather than half hearted after thoughts that only harm our homeless population. Sincerely, DoriRose Dusl 4684 Shadowglen Dr, Bozeman, 59718
