Re: Withdraw protest to Harper’s Corner Development
Dear Commissioners,
I will be brief. In January of this year, I wrote a protest letter to you regarding Harper’s Corner
Development. I have a shared border with this development along the western portion of its southern
boundary. Since January, I have participated in the several conversations the developers had with the
neighbors on Watts Lane who border the property on Hidden Valley Road and am satisfied that the
development will keep its impact to a minimum while allowing themselves an avenue toward profit.
I am aware that my protest letter made up the number required to put the matter into a super majority
position for approval by the Commission. I would like to withdraw my protest at this time.
The development of this land has been inevitable for at least a decade. The land was for sale for most of
that time. If the landowners on Watts Lane wished to absolutely control its use, it has always been my
contention they should have purchased it themselves. As a staunch supporter of property rights, I
believe that the developers have a right to profit from their investment. They have been more than
accommodating to their neighbors with several face-to-face meetings and numerous email exchanges.
They have answered my questions regarding the dam on the creek that passes through the corner
adjacent to me and they have reduced their request from R4 to a combination of R3 and R4. I feel they
have acted in good faith and I encourage the approval of the Harper’s Corner Development.
Sincerely,
Deanna Campbell
