Created on June 4, 2024 by Nancy Filbin
Description
Truck tra ic has resumed on Highland Blvd. with a vengeance! I understand they all have jobs to do but many are traveling well above the
25 mph speed limit and using Jake brakes. Many hit the stop sign at Kagy at a high rate of speed. So far, the Knife River trucks have been
courteous and law abiding, and we appreciate that. The silver trucks from Treasure State Inc. are the worst o enders I have observed. We
are a residential neighborhood and it is a shame that there is not an alternative for north-south tra ic.

Subject:[EXTERNAL]Truck traffic on Highland Blvd.

I am following up on an earlier comment regarding heavy truck traffic on Highland Boulevard this June. I
understand that Highland is a major north-south arterial and that there are many large construction projects going on,
especially at MSU. But it has created a dangerous and unpleasant situation for those of us who reside here.
I wrote to the city streets department asking them to: 1) repaint the crosswalk striping on the road surface so trucks
are aware of the many citizens who cross regularly, including the very young, senior citizens and disabled
community members; and 2) to please install temporary road signs reminding the trucks that this is a residential
neighborhood and the speed limit is 25 mph.
Many of the trucks are extremely loud and use their Jake brakes. Many do not allow adequate time to kill speed
before they hit the Highland-Kagy stop sign. They start early - today’s first truck went by at 6:33. I know they have
a job to do, and most drivers are courteous. But I am worried about the ones who seem unaware. And personally, the
heavy traffic has diminished the quality of life for me in what used to be one of Bozeman’s best neighborhoods.
Please do what you can to help mitigate this situation!
Many thanks,
Nancy Filbin
