Background
•Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invested $550 million to
provide grants to communities, states, U.S. territories, &
tribes
•Implement strategies to reduce energy use, reduce fossil
fuel emissions, and improve energy efficiency
•Formula and competitive grants
o City of Bozeman eligible for $116,320
•Application deadline extended to October 31, 2024
•Project activities should be completed within two years
•Streamlined application available under an equipment
voucher category

•On-site renewable energy

•Programs for financing, purchasing, and installing energy efficiency, renewable energy,

Recommendation
•Bozeman Public Library
o City top 5 electric usage
o Recent commissioning, energy efficiency
upgrades, and induction stove
o Existing 18-year-old, 14kW solar array
•Proposed Project
o Expand or replace up to 50kW (AC) of onsite
solar PV
•Produce ~15% of annual electricity
•Save ~$5,400 per year
•Avoid 54 metric tons of CO2 equivalent
•Shared public benefit
Move to recommend the City Commission authorize
the City Manager to submit a grant application to
the Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program to fund
solar PV at the Bozeman Public Library.
