Proclamation Regarding Pride Week
Whereas,the City of Bozeman is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community and
serving as a leader in condemning harassment and discrimination based on race, color,gender, sexual
orientation, and/or housing status; and
Whereas,the City of Bozeman actively condemns bigotry and hate activity and we dedicate ourselves to
protecting all residents and visitors from hate crimes and violence; and
Whereas,the City of Bozeman and the City Commission stand in support and solidarity with lesbian, gay,
bisexual,transgender, queer, and intersex(LGBTQ+) people within our community and around the world
as they seek to live full lives, free from hate,violence and discrimination; and
Whereas,the City of Bozeman recognizes the historic and contemporary threats to the lives,wellbeing,
and existence of the LGBTQ+ individuals and stand ready to support their efforts to create a safe-F and
welcoming community; and
Whereas,the Bozeman Pride Organizing Committee has scheduled events during the week of May 27tn
through June Vt that celebrate community, expression, beauty, and care for all people; and
Now,Therefore,the Bozeman City Commission pledges unwavering support for all members and visitors
of our community through the condemnation of hate crimes and hateful speech, by challenging bigotry
when it arises, actively committing to the advancement of human rights, and advocating for and
supporting policies and legislation that further human rights for all, and affirmatively furthering a
community where all are safe, valued, and accepted:
I further Proclaim,Terry Cunningham, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, hereby urge all members of our
community to join us in support of the LGBTQ+community in celebration of joy and condemnation of
hate.
