I’ve assigned City Transportation Engineer Taylor Lonsdale to evaluate the existing school zone on Oak at Gallatin High. I’m also happy to report that the State Transportation Commission has recently approved our request to lower the 45mph speed limit section on Oak to 35mph matching the rest of the corridor. This segment of Oak is regulated by the State and requires their approval for speed limit reductions. With TTC approval will come a formal approval by MDT, after which we can adjust the limits. -Nick Nicholas Ross, P.E. The crosswalk for the high school at Flanders Mill and Oak intersection has a speed limit of 35 miles an hour. That's too fast for a school zone crosswalk. I think you should move 20 MPH sign to the east of that intersection. That intersection has been the scene of many accidents. It doesn't make sense to have a 35 mph speed limit at a high school crosswalk. I also think you should reevaluate whether you wanna want to keep a 45 mile an hour speed limit at the intersection where the high school school teacher was killed on a bicycle. That would be the N. 15th Ave. and Oak Street intersection. Get Outlook for iOS
