Howdy,
I want to encourage you to appoint Ms. Bode for the vacant city commissionseat.
Two quick anecdote.
First, I met Ms. Bode when she was a student at Montana State. I wasimpressed with her unusual combination of both ability to grind and abilityto draw in those who might be uninterested in a topic. As just one example,we used some of her art as a centerpiece for a food waste reduction proposalbecause it was such a powerful symbol of the win-win-win opportunity (ourplan would have served the community [environmentally], the institution[financially], and students [educationally]). Her art consisted of carefullyarranged plates of leftovers students were delivering to the kitchen forcleaning. Food waste in this country and in our town is a complex challengethat starts with every one of our meals, but it was Ms. Bode's image that wasable to translate the scope of the opportunity.
Second, Ms. Bode is a steady and inclusive change-maker. To date, she is theonly student in our department that has successfully completed a program wecall a seamless Master's and that is only an option for exceptionalundergraduate students. Not only did Ms. Bode complete her undergrad andMaster's in 5 years, her research on mountain pine beetle infestations waspublished in a peer-reviewed scientific article in 2018(https://doi.org/10.1117/1.JRS.12.046030).
I fully support Ms. Bode's appointment as a City Commissioner and recommendyou do the same.
