R.Dunn - 2024 City Commission Vacancy.pdf Thank you, City Of Bozeman This is an automated message generated by Granicus. Please do not reply directly to this email. Dear Commissioners, I am writing to voice my support for a few candidates that I believe would be extremely qualified for the vacant seat:Alison Sweeney,Emma Bode, and Emily Talago. I have had the honor of getting to know Alison over the past couple of years through her dedicated work to understand the impacts of development that need to be considered when we address the growth of our community. She has spent countless volunteer hours researching housing and development complexities such as zoning, water rights, land value, and sustainability;she has a way of communicating her research thoughtfully to educate her neighbors on the impacts often overlooked by hasty development.Alison cares deeply about this community and has every intention to see Bozeman thrive.I am greatly inspired by her steadfast willingness to stand up for our community – she helped to form the Better Bozeman Coalition, which has worked with the city commission to advocate for historic preservation and thoughtful development.Beyond that, she has an impressive track record of dedicating her time to educate and build trust within the community;I’m excited to attend her walking tours where she makes information about Bozeman’s history and current/future development impacts accessible and digestible to the public! Alison is determined, committed, and great to work with. She listens carefully and responds thoughtfully. She has built trust and solidarity with many individuals and multiple organizations.Gallatin Valley needs to be strategic and mindful of the costs of development, and we need to foster a caring and cared-for community that people can afford to reside in.I have the utmost confidence that she would be an excellent addition to our current commission,as she’s shown she’s already up to the task of thinking strategically and considering all fronts. I would also be delighted to see Emma Bode on our commission.Emma is representative of young renters and folks who care deeply for the environment that makes Bozeman such a beautiful and desirable place.Emma has been a huge advocate for building up our community’s climate resiliency, and she’s spent a great deal of her own time mentoring and empowering Bozeman’s youth to make their concerns heard and understood. As chair of the Sustainability Board and with several years of local organizing experience,Emma has shown herself to be considerate, hardworking, and thoughtful of those around her while she works to make a positive impact within the community. Emily Talago ran for a commission seat in 2021 in order to advocate for the people that make Bozeman great. She asserts that Bozeman is more than just the amenities it provides – it is also the people that make those amenities available;therefore, those people need to be accounted for when we consider the continued growth and notoriety of this town.Emily has thoughtful and well-rounded perspectives which are informed by closely following city discussions and accessing public records. She cares deeply about resource conservation and would be another well-researched advisor in addressing the housing and development conversations we are continually having. I’ve lived in Montana my whole life, and Bozeman for eight years now,and I have never felt so connected to and inspired by a community as I have in the past couple years. It’s largely due to people like Alison, Emma, and Emily who do their due diligence as active community members that I feel so inspired and able to call Bozeman my home.I want to continue to feel that way,and I hope that you will consider these outstanding women whom I,and many others, have voiced such strong support and advocacy for. Building trust between neighbors and neighborhoods, and ultimately between the commission and our community, are key focuses that the commission has expressed commitment to –I believe that Alison Sweeney,Emma Bode, and Emily Talago are up for the task and will execute eagerly and diligently if selected. Thank you for your time and consideration. Best regards, Rylee Dunn
