TO: Mayor Terry Cunningham
Deputy Mayor Joey Morrison
Commissioners Jen Madgic and Douglas Fisher
Neighborhoods are the Heart of Bozeman and they need to be better represented on the City
Commission. That is why I ask the City Commission to appoint Allison Sweeney to the City
Commission.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She is vested in the needs, concerns and health of
neighborhoods in the City.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She understands the urgent need for affordable
housing and is knowledgeable in successful approaches used in other communities
that also preserve existing neighborhoods.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She advocates for historic preservation to retain the
identity of the city and protect historic homes from being torn down only to be
replaced by luxury housing.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She is an active in her City Recognized
Neighborhood Association and part of the Inter-neighborhood Council (INC).
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She Is a really bright analytical thinker, an excellent
communicator and problem solver.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She is a successful small business owner and
advocates for other small businesses.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She listens well. She does her homework and digs
deep into issues.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She supports the use of residential and larger scale
solar energy to help meet the city’s climate goals.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She cares about protecting our urban forest,
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->She is a native Bozemanite and would bring a
valuable working middle class women’s perspective to the City Commission.
I have been active in neighborhood and city issues for several years advocating regulating
short
term rentals, supporting neighbors’ parking needs and raising concerns about the location of
new or relocating fraternity & sorority houses. I served on the City’s Climate Working
Group that evolved into the Sustainability Advisory Committee and advocate for energy
efficiency and alternative energies in my home and in the city.
I recognize the qualities, abilities and perseverance needed to explore neighborhood and city-
wide issues and find solutions.
Allison Sweeney has all these qualities and would make an excellent addition to the Bozeman
City Commission.
Thank you for your consideration.
