I am writing to voice my support for Alison Sweeney's application to fill the vacant seat on the
Bozeman City Commission. Alison is a friend and neighbor and in the 9 years that I have liveddown the street from her I have always been impressed with her enthusiasm for and love of
Bozeman, her tireless energy, and her dedication to our community.
One example of these characteristics in action is the work that Alison has put into ourneighborhood block party. During the isolating time of the Covid pandemic, a few of my
neighbors, including Alison, and I decided it would be fun to organize a block party to bringour neighborhood together. I'm not sure what any of us were imagining this would be, but
Alison took charge and has created a beloved neighborhood tradition. For the past 3 years shehas single-handedly figured out and obtained all necessary permits and insurance, found and
hired a band, secured and led set-up of tables, chairs, tents, and kids activities, provided andwashed all the silverware, plates, and cups, created and distributed invitations, and managed
the budget. She even puts together flower arrangements for the tables. A block party may notseem like a big deal in the scope of what the City Commission is tasked with, but Alison's
dedication to this event typifies her approach to any task or responsibility she takes on.
Alison also took the lead on organizing our neighborhood into a formal NeighborhoodAssociation - something many of us had long discussed but that nobody else had taken the
initiative to make happen.
Alison also works to lift up others and empower them as well. She's often the energy andmotivation to get things moving, but her enthusiasm is a tide that lifts and carries others along
with her. She is a strong believer in community engagement and will help the CityCommission better engage with the people of Bozeman.
I believe Alison Sweeney would be a tireless public servant and an excellent addition to the
City Commission.
