Dear Commissioners,
I would like to submit support for Alison Sweeney or Emily Talago to be appointed to the City
Commission.
Alison has indeed spent the last 8 months familiarizing herself with the workings of the Cityby reading city plans and attending as many City Commission and advisory board meetings as
possible. I met and got to know Alison while sitting in the audience of Commission meetingsand various community conversations about housing and land use, where I have learned from
her thoughtful questions and public comments. Alison has spent many volunteer hourslearning about zoning, water rights, historic preservation, and other community issues. She is
incredibly skilled at distilling the impacts of codes in a comprehensible way. Alison designedan informative walking tour, which she has given to dozens of fellow residents, that provides
history and context around our changing neighborhoods and illustrates the impacts ofplanning. Alison’s history of community activism also includes championing solar and getting
the City’s urban chicken ordinance passed. As a lifelong resident of Bozeman, Alison haswitnessed the changes in Bozeman and continues to care deeply for this city and her
neighbors.
Emily has demonstrated a strong commitment to this city. In her run for City Commission in2021, Emily received nearly 5000 votes and has continued to stay involved through boards
and diligently following city discussions, often digging deep into public records to get a well-rounded perspective on city issues and policies. Though I don’t know Emily well, she is
incredibly thoughtful with her remarks, hardworking, and clearly cares deeply for hercommunity. Emily would bring a unique perspective to the Commission through her work and
life experiences.
I believe Alison and Emily are both extremely qualified for a spot on the City Commissionand have thought deeply about what it means to build a sustainable community. Both will
undoubtedly do the work to learn about different issues our city faces and build trust withresidents throughout the city.
Thank you for your consideration,
Natsuki
