Dear Commissioners,
I want to share my opinion that The Guthrie is an inappropriate application of the‘affordable housing’ rules and allowances in Bozeman. Simply put, the cost of the units doesnot match what the individual receives. At the core of the intent behind the city’s rules, TheGuthrie does not supply an affordable home compared to what is already available on themarket.
At a $/sqft rate WELL ABOVE market rate, The Guthrie is taking advantage of a largelyarbitrary, narrow sighted, and under informed AMR mathematical benchmark that will allow itto bypass various city regulations; city regulations that were put into plate to better ourcommunity.
Moreover, if The Guthrie is allowed to be built as proposed, and with all the currentregulation omissions that will be made for it, it will set an expectation for all futuredevelopments.
