Speed limit on Graf between 11th and 19th was recently INCREASED from 25mph to 30mph. Why? Drivers were
already going 10mph over the speed limit on a road with unprotected bike lanes. Do you think their speeding will
decrease with an increased speed limit? Now instead of people driving 35mph, people are driving 40mph. I thought
part of Bozeman’s “SAFE” plan was to decrease speed limits in areas with pedestrian traffic. As a bike commuter on
that road, I feel that my safety has been decreased since the speed limit increase. Graf has two curves in it that can’t
be taken above 25mph. Instead of slowing down, drivers cut the corners to make it a straighter line. One of the
corners they regularly cut to make this curve is an unprotected bike lane. I’ve been nearly hit half a dozen time on
my bike in that lane.
