Dear Commissioners,
Our household opposes the Guthrie Development at 321 N. 5th Avenue for these important
reasons: ● Traffic Overload: With a potential capacity of 314 adults in the Guthrie, imagine
the chaos of hundreds of cars, trailers, and visitors flooding our neighborhood streets. Safe
travel and parking will be impossible to maintain. ● Safety Risks at Whittier Elementary:
With the potential influx of cars and people, there are serious safety concerns, especially
for children attending Whittier Elementary School. ● Misleading Affordable Housing Claims:
Proposed rents far exceed affordable rates, prioritizing profit over community needs. ●
Rapid Resident Turnover: The Guthrie project operates like an extended stay hotel, offering
30-day leases to circumvent rental restrictions. Intended for out-of-state work crews, not
local residents, expect increased construction vehicles in the neighborhood ● Unforeseen
Consequences: City-approved deep incentives are ill-suited for a residential neighborhood,
resulting in increased traffic and decreased safety.
Thank you for your time.
