To whom it may concern,
My name is Dale Pickard and I own my home at on Montana Avenue and my businessproperty on Peach Street.
I want my voice added to those protesting the Guthrie Building. Among the practical
concerns I share with those protestors involve water, parking, waste removal and proximityto a school.
This building is designed to reap profits from temporary workers, who are denied any stake
in the community and fleeced of their meager earnings and then put on the street if theycan’t afford the outrageous “monthly lease”.
This kind of development is very likely to increase the transient, short term rental population
in our community and put a burden on the support services we have. Our community doesnot exist to be used in this way, especially not by a single developer that seeks dormitory
“housing” for his desperate employees.
To allow these moneyed interests to denigrate and condescend to those who make up ourworking population is morally despicable. They are grifting off vulnerable and desperate
people, forcing their workers to purchase their “housing” from the Company Store. They arelike payday lenders. This is disgusting. Vote no or whatever you have to do.
Thank you for listening,
Dale Pickard
