As a 43-year resident of northeast Bozeman, someone who has worked and walked for all of
those years on the north side, I strongly object to the Guthrie Development. Recently, I realized my husband and I rarely walk in the parts of the neighborhood that now
include the largest, looming new buildings. I have a purely visceral reaction to these hulks, making Bozeman's goal of a walkable city a total farce. We no longer have modest family
homes, tree-lined boulevards with trees with their chirping birds and scolding squirrels. While I understand the need for affordable housing, this established, close-knit part of our
community deserves better than to have this monstrosity plunked down in their midst to housea developer's workforce.
For years, I've believed these "developments" are neighborhood busters, pure and simple. Please take other factors into consideration, not just "affordability" and "density." Please don't
crush this neighborhood. Janine Barsness
