I am writing to express my concerns for the Guthrie Project 23354.
I urge commissioners and the community to consider whether this application
is a “smart path” to provide affordable housing, whether the proposed trade-
offs are realistic and deserving of “deep incentives”.
"Deep incentive" projects should include community input and equitable
outcomes for all.
This project will not positively impact affordable housing needs. Affordable
housing should balance a respectable amount of amenities with cost and
affordability. Buildings should be complementary to their surroundings.
This project encourages 2 people in less than 400 sqft, has no amenities, no
parking, and is not affordable. A 5-story building will destroy the
neighborhood’s character. The traffic infrastructure will be inadequate and
increase safety concerns for the area, in particular Whittier School parents and
children.
Perhaps, a smaller-scale project with parking might suit this location.
Respectfully, Patti Yasbek
